Digital Classicist Berlin Winter 2024/25, Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities & Online, Tuesdays, October 2024–February 2025, 6:15–7:45 pm CET
We are pleased to announce the Call for Papers for the Digital Classicist Seminar Berlin for the winter term 2024/25. This seminar series is organized by the “Zentrum Grundlagenforschung Alte Welt” at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, in cooperation with the “Berliner Antike-Kolleg”.
You are cordially invited to submit your contributions. The theme of this year's series is “Make Data Visible!” and focuses on the innovative application of modern digital methods that address resources and techniques in various areas of ancient studies. We particularly welcome proposals that demonstrate how these technologies can be used to answer both disciplinary and cross-cutting questions.
Presentations may address topics related to accessing and deepening the understanding of ancient cultural heritage, such as Data Visualization, Linked Open Data and the Semantic Web, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Science Communication, and more. Other new ideas are very welcome! With this call for papers, we especially encourage young researchers to present their thematically relevant research for discussion.
Abstracts may be submitted in German or English.
The seminars will take place fortnightly on Tuesdays from 16:15 to 17:45 CET, from October 2024 to February 2025. The full programme will be announced in August. Lecturers will receive support for travel and accommodation costs as much as possible. More information will be provided when the programme is published. We prefer speakers to attend in person if possible, but digital presentations are also welcome. The seminar will be conducted in a hybrid format.
